As the rumbling tones of bass culture continue to cause seismic shifts within popular music, dance and clubbing bible Mixmag return for the latest instalment of their ‘Mixmag Live’ series, featuring one of the biggest and most exciting producers to have risen from the UK in recent times: Sub Focus.

After making a solid name for himself on the powerhouse label that is RAM records, Sub Focus – AKA Nick Douwma - the talented and forward thinking drum and bass producer has transcended genre with a sound that captures the sprawling scenes of d’n’b, dubstep, house and all in between, uniquelydemonstrating his ability as an artist in his own right. Bone crunching bass drops, rapid fire and break-neck tempos and enough tailored and tweaked breaks to cause a riot, Sub Focus’ engaging and high octane productions are matched only by his stunning visual shows and DJ sets. A sensory assault of colour light and structure, his ever-evolvingDJ set is set to cause ruptures when he lands at Shoreditch’s Village Underground on Saturday, 25th August.  Expect favourites such as Aeroplane, smash singles such as Out Of The Blue and forthcoming monsters from his forthcoming second album, set for release later this year, alongside some of the biggest bangers found in the world of bass today.

Warming up for the legendary UK producer are a selection of chestplate-baiting, boundary-pushing dubstep players, ready to shake the foundations of the cavernous East london warehouse space. Kill The Noise drop in for a thundering bass workout, bringing their lauded blend of sharp electro stabs, bass cannons and brutal beats, as heard on their many productions and remixes for Skrillex’s OWSLA label. MTA signee’s and UK Dubstep duo KillSonik also bring the noise through their eclectic DJ set and young guns Monsta blow off the cobwebs with their signature focus of searing synth melodies and heavy, arresting bass.

Mixmag continue to explore the depths of some of the biggest DJs and artists on the planet, with the Sub Focus and friends show set to be an absolute roadblock. Tickets are just £12 and generously include an exclusive mix CD and the latest issue of Mixmag on entry. A rare chance to see a leader of the new breed of stadium-rocking bass artists in an intimate venue, make sure you head down and check out what all the fuss is about.
