Roll The Drums Recordings proudly present the launch of their new imprint with a huge release entitled The Cognition EP. 4 bass heavy rollers from the ground breaking drum and bass duo from Sussex known as D-Pression.

D-Pression aka Jay B and Solley are no strangers to the industry, with a history which boasts all the stature and success of 2 artists who are firmly involved in many aspects of the scene. Accolades include winning the Kmag mixtape competition, performing all over the world, along with a succession of releases which include the mighty Planet Funk Recordings, home to the likes of Mace, Kenny Ken & Crissy Criss.

The Cognition EP is a great representation of modern drum and bass, whilst keeping close to its original roots and shows why D- Pression are ones to watch throughout 2012 and beyond! Opening up the EP with their feature track 3rd Trimester, D-Pression set the pace and tone of things to come. Super low sub bass pounds away whilst the tight rolling drum work is produced with military precision. Displaying a great awareness of stereo space, D-Pression use subtle pads and eerie soundscapes to create a deep moody atmosphere reminiscent of the early sounds of the great Metalheadz. The second track entitled March intro’s with orchestral strings and drum roll edits before settling down in to a ambient space with deep vocal layers. Then lands the drop! Straight in to some
of the warmest bass lines you’ll hear anywhere, accompanied by razor sharp synth edits produced to perfection.

Cheat offers a much deeper vibe to The Cognition EP, with minimalistic drums which carefully lead you from one chapter to the next as D-Pression unleash an assault of audio that will take you to new and unexplored areas of music. The final and closing track on the EP is presented as Midas, and D-Pression go way back to the roots of Jungle Drum and Bass with original breaks and techniques used by the founders of the genre we love. Driven by a thick reece bass this track opens up in to addictive amen breaks and D-Pression’s signature production techniques which keep the listeners connected as each track develops.
