Cause4Concern - Alchemist EP - Out 5th November

Optiv, Mark and Stu make up the mighty Cause4Concern and the Alchemist EP is their brand new release on their very own C4C Recordings. Having already received support from Loadstar, Friction, Black Sun Empire and more, the EP continues C4C’s inexorable path to immortality, containing four slices of brutality tempered with melody and integrity.

The colossal title track leads the EP off, with a Noisia-like build-up. The track soon gets into your bloodstream, taking its time to develop before dropping into a main section which finely balances a searing bass part with keenly tooled drums. A deep track, Alchemist still manages to be immediate without going overboard. This long awaited release will not let you down.

Outlands is classic Cause 4Concern, with more of their signature sound brought to the fore. Bouncing rhythms play off each other, with the different parts making a whole which is rugged and well thought out. C4C are not only technically brilliant, they know what works in the clubs, so expect to be hearing a lot of this EP. Jitter Bug catches you off guard, moving through different areas towards its goal. Pounding bass and ear-splitting kicks rattle around your brain until you submit. The unceasing aural assault is handled perfectly by C4C, who employ different tactics to bring out varying levels of sound.

Final cut Creatures Of Habit is a perfect example of what draws listeners to Cause 4Concern, with its haunting intro, complete with horror samples. The way the beat leads in is a thing of beauty, levelling out into a metallic shuffle, combined with percussion riffs which surround it. The sounds weave in and out, leaving you unhinged by the mighty power of C4C. The Alchemist EP is C4C’s finest work of late, and you’d be mad to miss out.
