We caught up with the man behind the exiting label 'Artist Recordings' Pavel Zhigarev aka Genetic Bros..

Hi Genetic Bros. Can you give us a little background into the label, and who is involved with it?
The first release from Artist Recordings was 12 months ago, from me, and since that time we have released more than 60 tracks. I came up with the idea after my unsuccessful release of my single, and I wanted to create a record label where artists will be able to control the release dates of their releases, the design of their artworks and still be confident that his work will be appreciated.
Artist recordings at the moment is a small team which is driven by the idea behind our label.
What are the aims of the label, and what is the reasoning behind these aims?
Our aim is to form a musician in such a way so that creativity in music for him will come first, not the money. And if the music is creative, then eventually he will get his fairly earned money.
What’s your philosophy for signing tracks/artists?
My main priority is the quality, if the track has a good quality (production, structure, creativity) than it is the sign, that musician is ready to work and produce hits! The problem which I face with today is that there are far too many tracks which technically are at the very low level, and yet they don't get filtered by labels and end up in stores, possibly to get at least some money, thus clogging up the ears of listeners, who don't now what the quality is any more.
Your ideology is obviously important to you, where do followers and supporters fit in?
Although the ideology is very important for me and my team, most of it is done for the listeners, to educate them, that is why we release our music for free. If not our loyal followers I don't think that we would be where we are now.
Talk to us about the album and the artists and tunes it contains:
- I'll say this: the album is superb, very rich, diverse and international!
On the album there are both experienced producers as well young producers from different countries (UK, Romania, Russia, USA, Poland, Netherlands).
We have tried to cover almost the entire spectrum of Liquid drum'n'bass music, from melodic Liquid Funk track from Command Strange - "Summer time", this track speaks for itself, we have received a lot of good feedbacks on that track, Rameses B- Dreaming, track with which the album starts with a strong character, Infelx- Take away ( Katie Ambition), a very talented guy, with very talented signer, more of a mainstream liquid drum'n'bass, Slogun' Ioh- Be with you, upcoming duet from USA and Maduk- Voyager good mainstream track with live guitars, and my track- Geneticbros- Time Machine and the other guys ;)
In general, all sounds uniformly and harmoniously through the work of our engineer and the team that worked on the album!
Summer Vibez contains a large element of diversity, how has this been achieved?
Variety is our main goal in compilation albums, the main thing is to have a taste and be able not to limit yourself. My words can be seen in the art work for the album, there are a lot of difference elements, but still they look together as one single picture.
Describe the overall feelings of the album:
I would like to point out - is that this album has a real "summer" feeling. And although it is very diverse, it still feels very well put together.
The album has the unusual arrangement of being available to buy on Beatport before going on to be available free on Soundcloud, can you explain this for readers?
We came up with this idea after a lot of followers were approaching us with the same message- "I would definitely by it if it wasn't for free". So we decided to give listeners an option, this is like a "donation", if you like it you can pay for it, if you don't like it enough or don't have 2$ you can wait for 2 weeks and get it for free. The money which will be collected from these release will be going only to the promo campaign.
What are the Artist’s next ventures going to be?
We will release a compilation album - 1 year label birthday, where we will put all of the released tracks as well as some bonus tracks. Dubstep EP from the KGB, Tripcor and solo album from Geneticbros!
Thanks for your time, do you have any shouts to those who made the album possible?
Many thanks to all the musicians who are on the album, my team, all of our fans who are supporting and believing in us, and a special thanks to Cygnus music, for their best efforts in promoting this album!
